It would take weeks to be able to actually enjoy everything that can be done in this incredible location. Since you won't be able to do everything, it might be worth focusing your efforts on one area, and what better place than on the water?

Adventure Under the Water

There are so many things that can be done under the water surrounding the island of Ambergris Caye off Belize that it's hard to list them all. Among the most famous are the SCUBA-diving opportunities that provide plenty for people of all skill levels to enjoy.

Beginners might have fun spending time exploring the Belize Barrier Reef, one of the most biologically diverse areas on the planet. More experienced divers might want to consider the challenge that is Shark Ray Alley, which is an area of ocean where you can swim alongside actual sharks and stingrays.

You might also want to consider Hol Chan Marine Reserve, a segment of ocean that has been painstakingly preserved to make sure that it is absolutely teeming with ocean life of all kinds. This is perfect for divers of all ages and skill levels.

Relaxation on the Water

If diving isn't your thing, maybe you'd rather spend your time floating on top of the waves, tanning on the deck of a boat, and fishing.

Belize's Ambergris Caye has some of the best fishing in the Western Hemisphere. More than just the variety of fish you might catch, you also have a variety of different types of fishing to enjoy.

It's easy enough to charter a fishing voyage if you're looking to get out on the ocean and enjoy some real deep sea angling. These trips can take all day and result in one of the finest catches you've ever had. But, that doesn't mean there isn't also a really incredible shoreline fishing community where you can sit on a dock and just enjoy pulling them in for as long as you like.

More than that, though, there are also plenty of fly-fishing opportunities on Ambergris Caye in the various rivers leading out to the ocean. Unlike a day in the Big Blackfoot, you can expect to be pulling up tarpon, jacks, and even ladyfish.

And, what's the best part? Many of these activities can also be enjoyed at night for a whole new experience!

Wet and Dry Fun

These are only a couple of the incredible things that can be done on the water. Imagine how many other options are available to the intrepid visitor. You can be sure that as long as you're on Ambergris Caye, you will never run out of once-in-a-lifetime activities.
