In Belize, young students on vacation from North America joined forces with the local community and ECI Development in order to give a local church a much-needed new coat of paint.

The Importance of Student Service Projects

Young people from all around the world spend millions of hours each year involved in service projects. Whether at home in their own neighborhood or thousands of miles away in a foreign country, student volunteers make a tremendous difference in the lives of others.

Some service projects are religious in nature while others are simply a way for individuals to give back to those less fortunate. Ambergris Caye, and Belize as a whole, is tremendously lucky to have occasional student volunteers help with charitable projects.

Living Word Church in San Pedro

The Living Word Church, located in the town of San Pedro on Ambergris Caye, is a wonderful organization with a local minister named Pastor Ian at its helm. Through initiatives such as A Better Way of Living, which is a television ministry broadcast throughout the country of Belize, the Living Word Church works to spread their religious truths and encourage residents to volunteer their time and effort to improve society.

Pastor Ian is a well-loved man in the community who gave up his career in order to lead the congregation in his home country, and he is certainly appreciated by his congregation and the community as a whole.

Volunteers Give San Pedro Church a New Look

The Living Word Church was in for a great surprise when several student volunteers, visitors on vacation, international conference attendees and local community members gathered together for a service project that gave back to this local establishment. The volunteers came prepared with all of the necessary equipment, and they painted the Living Word Church in order to give it an incredible facelift.

ECI Development's Commitment to Charitable Works

While much of the credit goes to the volunteers who gave their time for this painting project, much of the inspiration came from ECI Development. This group has long been a supporter of charitable events in the community. From hosting charity fashion shows to making much-needed cash donations to local schools, the Exotic Caye Beach Resort and other sister businesses in the ECI group are going to the extra mile to improve the lives of local residents.
