Our experienced guides will help you learn about the incredible Mayan Culture as you walk around the ancient ruins of Altun Ha ("Water of the Rock").

Located 6 miles from the sea, the Mayan settlement of Altun Ha is the most excavated Mayan site in Belize and was an important ceremonial center and linked the Mayan centers of the interior with the Caribbean shores.

Mostly settled during the first millennium AD when the population may have reached as many as 10, 000, it slowly declined after about 900 and today the only inhabitants live in Rockstone Pond (Altun Ha is a modern name in Mayan, translating the name of the village).

The Jade Head, the largest carved jade object in the whole Maya area, was found here.
